The sector representative, Jihad Abu Nasser, said the import of used electric vehicles (EVs) alongside new ones has contributed to the price decline, which has, in turn, increased demand.

Jordan’s electric car imports increased year-on-year by 16,000 vehicles to reach 55,000 cars in 2022, whereas hybrid, gasoline, and diesel-powered vehicle imports declined, he said.

Abu Nasser also highlighted that Jordanians are purchasing more electric vehicles, with about 2,000 EVs cleared in January.

EV infrastructureVehicle sales expert Tariq Al-Tabbaa confirmed that demand for electric vehicles is on the rise, noting that the Greater Amman Municipality has put forward a bid to purchase electric buses.
