The Project Haystack Organization (https://www.project-haystack.org), a collaborative community addressing the challenge of utilizing semantic modeling and tagging to streamline the interchange of data among different systems, devices, equipment and software applications, today announced that a new Associate Member company, Midea Building Technologies (MBT), has joined the organization.

“For over 12 years, Project Haystack has been developing the widely accepted standard for semantic modeling methodology with a focus on smart environments, building and facilities,” said Alex Rohweder, Co-Executive Director of the Project Haystack Organization. “One key element of the organizations proliferation is the increasing adoption of the Project Haystack standard by equipment and appliance manufacturers. MBT is a prime example of that.”

With more than 166,000 employees and a presence in over 195 countries, including the United States, Midea’s products touch the lives of millions of people and families through air treatment, refrigeration, laundry, small and large kitchen appliances, water appliances, floor care, and lighting. As a key part of Midea Group, MBT business division was established in 1999 and was the first to produce VRF in China. MBT strategically places its business concentration on the comprehensive solutions of intelligent buildings including heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, elevators, control systems and energy management system.

“Our mission is to build smart space for a sustainable future which seamlessly connect human and the building space,” said Dr. Rui Yan, Head of Intelligent Technologies at the Leading Edge Research Center of MBT. “We have also landed several high-profile projects, like the most recently finished high-efficiency chiller plant project for Citigroup Tower at Shanghai.”
