FBI Nabs Infamous Hacker Forum Owner Behind Major Data Breaches of Many Indian Companies and Govt Agencies!

This week, the FBI in the United States arrested a New York man they believe was the administrator of BreachForums , a popular cybercrime forum where some of the world’s largest hacked databases regularly show up for sale. According to FBI Special Agent John Longmire, the administrator of the hacker forum , Conor Brian Fitzpatrick , also known as Pompompurin , has been arrested for being the mastermind behind Breach Forums.

After the FBI shut down RaidForums in 2022, Pompompurin who was a senior member of the RaidForums prior to its closure, founded Breachforums to fill the void. Soon, the new hacker forum quickly became the go-to place for buying and selling data leaks. The cybercrime forum hosted and facilitated the sale of a number of high-value data breaches, many of which originated in India.

Pompompurin, not just created and operated the hacker forum, he also offered ‘Middle man’ services, where he would help the threat actor facilitate the sale of the data leak keeping the identity of both the buyer and the seller anonymous.
Pompompurin faces one count of conspiracy to solicit individuals to sell unauthorised access devices, as detailed in c ourt documents .
« When I arrested the defendant on March 15, 2023, he stated to me in substance and in part that: a) his name was Conor Brian FitzPatrick; b) he used the alias « pompourin, » and c) he was the owner and administrator of « BreachForums, » the data breach website referenced in the Complaint, » according to FBI Special Agent John Longmire.

The 21 year old, Pompompurin is out on $300,000 bail signed by his parents and is scheduled to appear in the District Court of the Eastern District of Virginia on March 24.

What led to Pompompurin’s arrest?

While, FBI has not given a statement yet, Intelligence X, a security search engine and data archive, claimed that on January 3rd, 2023, they had found Pompompurin bragging about registering an account on the platform and that they had forwarded all of his details, including IP Addresses, VPN, and Email IDs, to the FBI.

Meanwhile at Breach Forums

Baphomet has taken Pompompurin’s place at Breachforums, confirming his arrest. He stated on the forum, « I think it’s safe to assume he won’t be coming back, so I’ll be taking ownership of the forum. I have most, if not all the access necessary to protect BF infrastructure and users. »

Announcement about Pompompurin’s arrest on the Hacker Forum

Pompompurin’s hacker forum, BreachForums, was the go-to place for threat actors looking to sell data leaks, porn, gaming accounts, Netflix accounts, VPNs, Trojans, Ransomewares, and a variety of other illegal warez.

The website hosted data leaks from Truecaller Indi a, HDB Financial Services, Railyatri, Acer, WhatsApp, Hyundai India, Skoda India, and many other Indian companies, schools, and government agencies.

What Comes Next for Breach Forums?

With Pompompurin gone, Baphomet has taken over the hacker forum. However, many users are highly skeptical about the cybercrime forum’s future. « This forum has become a honeypot, and I advise everyone to leave. The feds have already logged you into the core « One user writes. While Baphomet, the new administrator, has assured the website’s secrecy and normal operation, it is unclear whether Pompompurin retains access to the main domain name.

Many threat actors use telegram and dark web to showcase their work, and reach out to victims. Breachforums was one easy destination for media to know about whats going on. If the FBI shuts down the website, it will only make finding data leaks more difficult; it will not prevent data leaks from occurring.
