JioPhone 5G expected price in India

The JioPhone 5G will be “ultra-affordable,” which is something that Ambani confirmed at the previous Reliance AGM event. The exact price range is yet to be revealed, though the leaks have so far suggested that the price could be between Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000. If this turns out to be true, then this will be the most affordable 5G phone in India. There are chances that the handset could be priced under Rs 15,000 segment, which currently has fewer 5G options. We will get better clarity on this in the coming weeks.

JioPhone 5G: Expected specifications

The device has already been spotted on the Geekbench website with model number Jio LS1654QB5. The listing revealed that the new JioPhone could come with a base variant of 4GB RAM. Ambani has already confirmed the company’s partnership with Qualcomm, meaning you can expect the JioPhone 5G to use a Snapdragon chipset under the hood.

While the name of the chipset is to be revealed officially, the Geekbench listing suggested that the upcoming JioPhone 5G could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ processor. The handset is expected to ship with Android 13 OS as we are nearing the release of the Android 14 OS. The leaks so far claim that the JioPhone 5G could feature a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD 90Hz screen, a 5,000mAh battery, and a 13-megapixel dual rear camera setup. On the front, there could be an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies. The company is said to provide support for at least 18W charging.

We will have to wait for some more time to know the exact specifications of the smartphone as Reliance is expected to confirm the details at the end of August.

Other announcements at Reliance AGM event

As the anticipation builds, Reliance is yet to introduce dedicated 5G plans within India. Industry speculation suggests that these plans might mirror the pricing of the existing 4G plans while delivering enhanced speeds and greater stability to users. Furthermore, an unveiling of specifics regarding the Jio Air Fiber service could also be on the horizon. The AGM 2023 could also reveal the listing date for Jio Financial Services, which is poised to take center stage under Ambani’s vision, aiming to become India’s premier non-banking financial institution.
