English Language Netflix Originals Coming in January 2023
Kaleidoscope
Coming to Netflix: January 1st
In a brand new format for Netflix comes a limited series that allows you to watch the series in any order you like.
Set over a couple of decades, this series sees the ultimate conclusion of a big bank heist. Each episode is set during the build-up to the heist, long before it or after the heist.
The new series stars Giancarlo Esposito, Paz Vega, Rufus Sewell, and Tati Gabrielle.
Ginny & Georgia (Season 2)
Coming to Netflix: January 5th
Sarah Lampert returns to showrun the second season of the feel-good series that caught the eye (and not in a good way) of Taylor Swift with season 1.
Here’s what you can expect from season 2 of the show.
“How do you live with the knowledge that your mother is a murderer? That’s what Ginny is going to have to figure out. Burdened with the new understanding that Kenny – her step-dad – didn’t die of natural causes, now Ginny must deal with the fact that Georgia not only killed, she killed to protect Ginny. Georgia on the other hand would much prefer that the past be left in the past, after all, she’s got a wedding to plan! The Pale Blue Eye
Coming to Netflix: January 6th
Christian Bale will be suiting up for his first major Netflix Original movie (that’ll also be getting a theatrical release over Christmas) that will be adapting the Louis Byard novel.
Here’s the official logline for The Pale Blue Eye:
“West Point, 1830. A world-weary detective is hired to discreetly investigate the gruesome murder of a cadet. Stymied by the cadets’ code of silence, he enlists one of their own to help unravel the case — a young man the world would come to know as Edgar Allan Poe.”
Vikings: Valhalla (Season 2)
Coming to Netflix: January 12th
As part of a three-season order, Vikings: Valhalla will return for a second season alongside a few new faces.
Season 2 of Vikings: Valhalla finds our heroes shortly after the tragic fall of Kattegat, an event that has shattered their dreams and altered their destinies. Finding themselves suddenly fugitives in Scandinavia, they are forced to test their ambitions and courage in worlds beyond the fjords of Kattegat.
That ’90s Show
Coming to Netflix: January 19th
The highly anticipated follow-up series to That 70s Show with the return of some of the biggest stars from the original.
Here’s the rundown of what you can expect from the 10-episode first season:
“It’s 1995 and Leia Forman is desperate for some adventure in her life or at least a best friend who isn’t her dad. When she arrives in Point Place to visit her grandparents, Red and Kitty, Leia finds what she’s looking for right next door when she meets the dynamic and rebellious Gwen. With the help of Gwen’s friends, including her lovable brother Nate, his smart, laser-focused girlfriend Nikki, the sarcastic and insightful Ozzie, and the charming Jay, Leia realizes adventure could happen there just like it did for her parents all those years ago. Bling Empire: New York
Coming to Netflix: January 20th
A spin-off to the reality series Bling Empire which is currently in its third season.
This new entry will see a “fresh group of wealthy, sophisticated and hilarious Asian-Americans from New York City.”
Kings of Jo’Burg
Coming to Netflix: January 27th
Return of the South African action drama that asks the question, “In a city where the stakes are high, what does it take to be king?”
Lockwood & Co
Coming to Netflix: January 27th
This highly anticipated British mystery fantasy series will be one of Netflix’s first major TV releases of 2022.
Here’s what you can expect from the new series:
“A girl with extraordinary psychic abilities joins two gifted teen boys at a small ghost-hunting agency to fight the many deadly spirits haunting London.”
Among the cast includes Ruby Stokes, Cameron Chapman, Ali Hadji-Heshmati, and Jack Bandeira.

- Mumbai Mafia: Police vs The Underworld (2023) – Documentary film on a crime boss and his network who wielded immense power in the city and led to the rise of encounter cops. From documentary makers Francis Longhurst and Raaghav Dar.

The Way of the Househusband (Season 2)
Coming to Netflix: January 1st
Language: Japanese
A second season of the anime series The Way of the Househusband will drop in January 2023.
The Lying Life of Adults
Coming to Netflix: January 4th (date subject to change)
Language: Italian
Drama series based on the book by Elena Ferrante, directed by Edoardo De Angelis and starring Valeria Golino.
Here’s the official logline:
“Young Giovanna navigates her passage from childhood into adolescence as she experiences the different sides of Naples during the 1990s.”
Woman of the Dead
Coming to Netflix: January 5th (date subject to change)
Language: German
A new Austrian thriller series based on the Bernhard Aichner book of the same name first announced in February 2022.
The series sees a woman exposing a small community with a deep and ugly secret after looking for answers about who killed her husband.
The series is created by Barbara Stepansky, Benito Mueller, and Wolfgang Mueller.
Noise
Coming to Netflix: January 11th
Language: Spanish
A search for her missing daughter leads a mother to a support network, where she bonds with other women whose lives have been destroyed by violence. Mexican movie starring Julieta Egurrola, Teresa Ruiz and Kenya Cuevas.
The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House
Coming to Netflix: January 12th
Language: Japanese
Based on the anime and manga (written by Aiko Koyama), this live-action series adaptation is a co-production between Netflix, Story Inc., and BUN-BUKU Inc.
The eight-episode series follows Kiyo, who becomes a Makanai (person who cooks meals) at a house where Maiko (apprentice geishas) live together.

Sky Rojo (Season 3)
Coming to Netflix: January 13th
Language: Spanish
Alex Pina, the creator of Netflix’s Money Heist, will be returning to serve as executive producer alongside fellow creator Esther Martínez Lobato in the third and final outing for the Spanish series.

Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre (Season 1)
Coming to Netflix: January 19th
Language: Japanese
From the prolific mangaka, Junji Ito comes a new anthology horror series that’ll present 20 of his most iconic stories,, including tales from Tomie, Souichi, and The Hanging Balloons.
Represent / En Place (Season 1)
Coming to Netflix: January 20th
Language: French
Represent is a new French comedy series created by Jean-Pascal Zadi and François Uzan. It is directed by Jean-Pascal Zadi, who plays Stéphane Blé, an idealistic educator who is inadvertently thrust into the French presidential race.

A new Turkish fantasy romantic series starring Serenay Sarıkaya, Burak Deniz, and Mustafa Uğurlu.

Language: Korean
A new Korean competition reality series that pits one hundred contestants in top physical shapes to a series of challenges. Think ripped Takeshi’s Castle.

The Snow Girl / La Chica de Nieve (Season 1)

This new mystery thriller series asks one simple question, “Where is Amaya Martin?”
Milena Smit, Jose Coronado and Aixa Villagrán lead this thriller’s cast based on the same name book by Javier Castillo.
