Fortnite’s Wilds season has a number of secret quests available, with one of them being having to find the NPC known as Trace at ‘the Apparatus’.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3’s gimmick is a trip to the jungle, and as anyone who has seen a classic adventure movie will know, jungles are full of mysterious artefacts and trinkets. To keep with the mystery, Fortnite has a number of secret quests this season, which are taken on once you run into one of these.

You’ll find a number of Fortanium Prisms across the map (resembling the crystals from Crash Bandicoot but are instead blue), once you interact with one you’ll get a mission pop up telling you to bring the Prism to trace at the Apparatus. However, there’s no area on the map with that name, so where is the Apparatus in Fortnite? We’ve got this handy guide to answer your question.

Where is the Apparatus in Fortnite?

The mission in question is to bring Prisms to Trace at the Apparatus, but to find Trace you’ll need to figure out where the Apparatus actually is. Well, you’ll want to head to the Jungle biome in the centre of the map, and over to the east side of the area, you should be able to spot a stone building on the map: this is the Apparatus.

Once you get there you’ll need to climb to the top of the building where the NPC known as Trace will be hanging out waiting for his Prisms, you’ll need to talk to him to hand them over.

Where to find Prisms in Fortnite

This mission actually shows up three times in-game, with three separate Fortanium Prisms spawning around the map. The Prisms are all located in the new jungle biome situated in the middle of the map, however, you only need to deliver one of them to Trace to complete the mission.

The first – and easiest – Prism is actually at the Apparatus. Go to the ground level and round to the west side of the building and you should see an exclamation point icon on your map and on the HUD. Head up to it and interact with the glowing blue crystal and the Prism is yours, take it upstairs to Trace and that’s 20K towards your Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 Battle Pass.

The next Prism is at the south of the jungle biome (almost exactly from where the first Prism was), if you look of your map you’ll see a small grey square building, that’s where you want to go for the second prism, take that back to Trace at the Apparatus to complete your mission.

The final Prism is situated at the west end of the jungle in Rumble Ruins. You can find it all the way in the building in the southwest corner of the area. Obviously, this one is the furthest away and is in the most popular area of the three, so we wouldn’t bother with this one.
