After weeks of waiting, the Fortnite 25.20 update is almost here to bring some long-awaited content to Chapter 4 Season 3. Here are the early patch notes for the Fortnite 25.20 update, including the release date and downtime.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 got off to a strong start, bringing a brand-new Battle Pass complete with a Transformers crossover. This was followed up shortly after with the Summer Escape event, which added even more Quests to complete and rewards to unlock.

But the content has dried up in recent weeks after Epic Games staff went on a two-week break, leaving players desperate for the next patch. Luckily, the Fortnite 25.20 update is due to arrive soon to keep them occupied until Season 4.

Fortnite 25.20 update release date & downtime

The Fortnite 25.20 update is set to arrive on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. Patches like this one usually drop on Tuesdays, but well-known Fortnite leaker Shiina claimed that the update has been pushed back by a day to make way for the rescheduled Duo Cash Cup.

Downtime is likely to begin at around 12 AM PDT / 3 AM EDT / 8 AM BST and will last around an hour, during which the servers will be offline and you won’t be able to join a match.

Fortnite 25.20 leak reveals return of Kinetic Boomerang

According to Shiina, the Fortnite 25.20 update is set to unvault the Kinetic Boomerang. The unique weapon was one of the major additions in Chapter 4 Season 3, but was removed on June 29 after players were running into issues.

Once the 25.20 patch goes live, players will be able to find the Kinetic Boomerang once again, both as ground loot and in Chests.

New Pistol in Fortnite 25.20 update?

Shiina has also speculated that a new Pistol could be added to the loot pool in the Fortnite 25.20 update. They mentioned that a Pistol could be spotted in the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 key art, but has yet to appear in-game yet.

It isn’t clear what the new handgun would be called, or how it would be different from similar weapons in its class, but there’s a good chance that could make its debut in the next patch.

Fortnite 25.20 bug fixes

Epic are yet to announce all of the bug fixes coming in the Fortnite 25.20 update, but we can look at the team’s Trello board to get an idea of the issues that are likely to be resolved. Check them out below:

Locker

• Multiple outfits may appear shiny/glossy.
• Sound effects missing from the Maxx Axe pickaxe.
• Meow Skulls is missing her tail.

Ranked battle royale

• Players may not be given full weapon damage credit for some Ranked quests.

Save the world

• Players may experience lag when using specific projective traps.
