Following a significant number of user reports of ‘janky’ scrolling on the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro flagships, Google looks set to release a fix in a matter of weeks.
That issue concerns scrolling, specifically the lack of smooth scrolling. Several Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro owners have reported issues that they did not feel matched up with the input given – whether the speed of the scroll wasn’t matching the touch input, a stuttering effect was seen, or the text would ‘tear’, with different parts of the screen becoming detached from each other while scrolling.
Some of this will be down to perception and how much it impacts individual users, but it is present. It’s also been on the issue tracker managed by Google since the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro handsets were released.
Google has acknowledged the issue inside the tracker, with the useful promise of a fix in the near future: « We are aware of this issue and working on improvements for an upcoming software update.”.
With the February 2023 update already rolled out, the next opportunity will be in the update planned for the first week in March 2023.
